Loaves & Fishes opened its doors in October, 2002 after a group of pastors felt God leading them to do something to address problems associated with declining economic factors in Smyth County, Virginia. Since its opening, Loaves & Fishes has assisted over 1896 families in the Chilhowie Area, with an average of 400 boxes of food being distributed each distibution day. Over 30 churches support Loaves & Fishes with funds, food, volunteers, and prayers. Food is distributed on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of every month. Hours of distribution are 10:00 am - 12 noon and 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm.
